INEC begins collation of Imo governorship results

The collation of results for the Imo State Governorship election has commenced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The exercise started around 2:40 a.m. on Sunday at the collation centre in Owerri, the state capital. The returning officer is Professor Abayomi Fasina, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University in Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State.

However, the collation was met with resistance by some party agents who questioned the haste to start the exercise.

“Why are we in a hurry to start collation?” some of the agents challenged. But the state returning officer of INEC, Prof. Abayomi, insisted on proceeding with the collation of results for the governorship election.
