I created most jokes Nigerian comedians tell – Alibaba

Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, better known as Alibaba, the ‘King of Comedy’, has declared that he is the source of most of the jokes Nigerian comedians use.

He said that even though his jokes are reused by others, some comedians still think he has not contributed much to the comedy industry.

He made this statement in a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, which was co-hosted by actor Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, also known as Deity Cole and Husband Material.

Alibaba said, “Some people will complain that I am not helping, but the truth is that 4/5 of the jokes you are cracking are mine.

“There was this guy who contacted me the other day, a very famous skit maker. He posted one video. And it’s a joke about… This one happened in Warri when someone wanted to disconnect someone’s electricity, and they brought dogs and machetes and told the person, ‘Come down when you are done.’ I cracked that joke in 1988. And now they have made it into a skit.

“There are many skits going around that are based on my jokes.”

He advised skit makers and comedians to always acknowledge the creators of their content ideas.
