Sariki Bello Shehu II, leader of Aba's Hausa community, visited the Abia State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs on Wednesday. He brought a delegation to discuss pressing issues affecting his people.

The Sarki asked the state government to develop a larger settlement along Osioma axis. His proposal includes a mosque, market, schools, and residential facilities.

Worshiper numbers have grown significantly in recent years. Friday prayers now cause serious traffic congestion throughout the area, he noted.

Shehu praised Governor Alex Otti and Chief of Staff Caleb Ajagba for their swift response to recent security incidents involving Hausa traders. He reaffirmed his community's loyalty to the Abia government.

Better urban planning is urgently needed across Aba. Residential buildings are being illegally converted into commercial spaces, creating additional problems.

He also called for expanded affordable public transportation services. Such improvements would ease movement throughout the state capital.

Uzor Nwachukwu, the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, received the delegation in his office. He commended them for maintaining peaceful relations within the state.

According to him, Governor Otti's administration welcomes all residents regardless of ethnicity, faith, or background. Every lawful inhabitant will continue receiving government protection and welfare support, he assured them.

Nwachukwu promised ongoing collaboration with community leaders and stakeholders. He emphasized that such partnerships are vital for sustaining peace and driving development statewide.
