Google CEO Warns of More Layoffs as YouTube Cuts 100 Jobs

In a recent internal memo, Google CEO Sundar Pichai has warned employees that more layoffs are in store as the company focuses on new priorities, including artificial intelligence.

This news comes just a week after Google laid off more than 1,000 employees, or 6% of its workforce.

The memo stated that the role eliminations are not at the scale of last year’s reductions, but some teams will continue to make specific resource allocation decisions throughout the year where needed. This means that some roles may be impacted.

In addition to these internal changes, YouTube, a subsidiary of Google, has confirmed that it is eliminating 100 employees from its operations and creator management teams.

These cuts are part of a larger restructuring effort that aims to localize global teams that provide support to YouTube’s creators.

Despite the challenges, Pichai emphasized that Google is committed to helping affected employees and to help them find jobs elsewhere at Google or outside of the company.

He also mentioned that the company has ambitious goals and will be investing in its big priorities this year.
