Fubara Approves N100,000 Christmas Bonus For Rivers Workers

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has granted the sum of N100,000 for every civil servant in the State.

The millions of workers in the various Ministries, Departments, And Agencies will benefit from the bonus.

The State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr. Joe Johnson said the grant was given on Tuesday for “immediate execution to enable the civil servants to have a splendid yuletide celebration.”

This will be the first time in a long time that civil servants in the state will be getting Christmas bonuses, especially to the amount of one hundred thousand naira, more than three times the worth of the nation’s minimum wage.

Governor Fubara has repeatedly expressed his wish to enhance the welfare of civil servants and cater to the needs of the low-income earners in the state.

During the presentation of the 2024 budget proposal of N800 billion to the Edison Ehie-led Rivers State House of Assembly last week, the Governor vowed to fill the manpower gap in the civil service by accelerating the recruitment process of staff into the service.

Fubara, who was the former Accountant General of the state, is the first civil servant to serve as the Governor of Rivers State.
