Free Surgical Services Launched in Ogun State to Support Indigent Residents

Ogun State government has commenced the process of offering free surgical services to indigents in the state.

The initiative, launched by Governor Dapo Abiodun, aims to provide much-needed support to the people during these challenging times.

Dr. Afolabi Dosunmu, Executive Secretary of the Ogun State Health Insurance Agency, stated that hospitals in the state are ready to carry out the directive of the governor.

“The modalities are very simple as long as you are a resident of the state, as long as you have one surgical need or the other, you are free to walk into any of our state or general hospitals and enroll on the insurance scheme,” he said.

The program ensures that patients receive comprehensive assessments by doctors to determine their eligibility for immediate surgery or if they need further monitoring before undergoing the procedure.

This thorough process guarantees that patients receive the best possible care, regardless of their financial situation.

Surgery operations are set to begin on Tuesday, with a focus on addressing urgent cases that require immediate attention.

The state government has set a target of providing free medical care to 70,000 individuals, including pregnant women, market women, and poor people in the state.

This ground-breaking initiative by Governor Dapo Abiodun and the Ogun State Health Insurance Agency is poised to make a significant impact on the lives of indigent residents, ensuring that they have access to the medical care they need and deserve.
