FG reveals new approach for steady power supply

The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has unveiled his plan to solve the country’s electricity problems.

He said that the methods used by his predecessors were ineffective and that he would implement a bottom-up approach.

He explained that his new approach would guarantee that the country would have enough power in the near future, unlike the top-to-bottom approach used by former ministers.

He made this statement in Abuja at a roundtable with the legislature, judiciary, and other stakeholders in the power industry on emerging issues, especially the re-enactment of the Electricity Act, 2023.

He asserted that the nation’s main challenge was not the lack of skilled engineers to do the work but the lack of political will and the right leadership to improve power supply.

“My strategy is a bottom-up approach in the electricity sector. Many ministers have been working on generation.

“But what is the use of generating power if it does not reach the users? It is pointless. It is like blinking in the dark because the customer does not see what we are doing.

“We are serious about the power sector this time around. It has to work. We have no other option,” he said.
