Bruno Fernandes made history on the final day of the Premier League season. The Manchester United midfielder broke the all-time record for assists in a single campaign.

His 21st assist came against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday. Fernandes delivered a corner kick to Patrick Dorgu in the 33rd minute to set up the goal.

He's now surpassed Thierry Henry and Kevin de Bruyne on the all-time list. The Portuguese playmaker, 31, achieved the milestone in what's been a remarkable season for him personally.

United finished third in the league despite a turbulent campaign. Fernandes' creative brilliance proved instrumental in securing their Champions League spot for next season.

His assists have directly contributed 21 points to United's total this term. That breaks the previous record of 17 points, set by Darren Anderton back in 1994-95.

Ten of his assists came from set pieces this season. He's just one short of Steven Gerrard's tally of 11 assists from dead balls.

Since Michael Carrick took over in January, Fernandes has registered 14 assists. The interim manager switched him to play behind the strikers, moving him forward from a deeper position.

Fernandes claimed player of the season honours from both the Football Writers Association and the Premier League. His overall United record now stands at 71 EPL assists across his career.

Only three players have provided more assists for United in the Premier League. Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney, and David Beckham rank ahead of him on that particular list.
