Federal Government Takes Action: Relief Materials Deployed to Plateau Massacre Victims

In response to the devastating Plateau massacre that occurred on Christmas Eve, the Federal Government of Nigeria, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has announced the immediate deployment of relief materials to affected communities in the Plateau State.

The decision comes after a series of attacks in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas, which left many dead, injured, and displaced.

Vice President Kashim Shettima visited the affected areas on Wednesday to offer condolences and assure the victims that the government is committed to providing justice and ensuring their safety.

The Vice President stated, “We won’t rest until you access justice and until you are safe.”

The Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has also taken swift action by deploying additional manpower and resources to Plateau State to assist the local police authority and other security apparatus in managing the crisis and ensuring the safety of residents.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, announced that the Federal Government strongly condemns the attacks and is committed to securing every inch of Nigerian territory.

Idris emphasized that all forms of criminality by terrorists, bandits, and militants will be tackled boldly and decisively.

In addition to the deployment of relief materials, the government has called for collaboration between Nigerian and international organizations to provide support to those affected by the massacre.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, has assured the public that the government is working closely with relevant agencies to provide the necessary assistance to the affected communities.

As the relief efforts continue, the government has also urged the international community to support their efforts in bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring that such incidents do not happen again.
