The African Democratic Congress has slammed what it calls a brazen scheme to divert public funds. Party officials are demanding answers over allegations that APC governors siphoned N800 billion from FAAC accounts.

The money allegedly went toward financing President Tinubu's re-election bid, according to reports the ADC cited. The party called the conduct "shameless, cruel and criminal" in a Tuesday statement.

Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC's national publicity secretary, issued the statement. He framed the allegations as proof of what many Nigerians have long suspected about public resource misuse.

According to Abdullahi, the timing makes the matter worse. Millions of citizens are suffering through hunger and poverty while leaders allegedly raided state coffers for political purposes.

"If true, this isn't just corruption — it's outright theft," Abdullahi's statement read. He noted that FAAC money belongs to Nigerians, not to any single politician's campaign.

State allocations are earmarked for schools, hospitals, roads and wages, the ADC emphasized. Yet governors somehow found resources to bankroll a presidential campaign, the party argued.

In Abdullahi's words: "To divert public funds into political accounts while citizens cannot afford food is wickedness on an industrial scale." He painted a picture of governance transformed into a fundraising operation.

Many APC governors have prioritized politics over actual governance, according to the party. This explains why improved state revenues haven't translated into better services for ordinary people.

Nigeria is battling multiple crises right now. Inflation has soared, jobs are scarce, insecurity persists, and purchasing power continues collapsing across the nation.

The ADC demanded a full investigation into the allegations. Citizens have a right to know whether state and local government funds were stolen for partisan ends, the opposition party insisted.

Such a scandal would represent a dangerous breach of public trust, according to Abdullahi. He called it a matter of "enormous national consequence" requiring urgent scrutiny.
