Empowerment: Omo-Agege gives out over N8m to constituents

THE Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial district, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, weekend, flagged of the first phase of his empowerment programme for the people of the district by giving out over N8million to 400 beneficiaries.

The N150 million financial empowerment programme of the APC Senator saw the first sets of beneficiaries; 200 Okada riders and another 200 petty traders at the Ughelli Main Market go home with N20, 000 each to boost their business.

 

The event which was held at the Ughelli Town Hall and the Ughelli Main market, Ughelli North local government area was attended by hundreds of commercial motorcycle operators popularly known as Okada riders and petty traders from the market.

 

Senator Omo-Agege while speaking at the Ughelli Town Hall said: “I am not here today to render my stewardship but, am here to appreciate the efforts of the Okada riders and all those who stood by me during my election.

 

“When am done with this programme, I would invite everyone to Uviamughe to render my stewardship on the one year 5 months that I have spent in the senate.

 

“This empowerment programme is a continuous exercise that would be extended to other local government areas in Delta Central. Though we can’t extend the programme to everyone, those who do not benefit today would benefit tomorrow.”

 

The senator also disclosed that under the programme, he would be giving out scholarships to 200 undergraduate students of the Delta State University, DELSU from the Delta Central Senatorial Districts to assist them through school.

 

At the Ughelli Main market, the lawmaker urged the benefiting women to put the seed capital they have received into their business in order to boost it, adding that he will also, as part of the empowerment programme visits other market in the senatorial district.

 

Omo-Agege also promised to construct a befitting toilet facility and sink water borehole at the Ughelli Main market to ameliorate the pains the women are currently going through as part of his constituency projects.
