Emefiele Gets Bail After 151 Days in Custody

Former CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, has been granted bail by Justice Olukayode Adeniyi of the FCT High Court. He is to be released to his lawyers, who will ensure his appearance in court for his formal charge next week or any other day. He is also to surrender his travel documents to the court’s chief registrar until his charge.

The judge stressed that detention without trial must stop and that the ex-bank chief has been in custody for 151 days. The court also ordered the Federal Government and the AGF to respect the court order. The main motion and the preliminary objection will be heard on November 17, 2023.
