The immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections, following his victory in the party’s primary election.

Elumelu was declared the winner by the APC Delta State Returning Officer, Chief Val Areyinka, at the party’s central collation centre located at the Oshimili South Local Government Event Centre in Asaba after the conclusion of the direct primary conducted across the 42 wards in the four local government areas that make up the federal constituency.

With the victory, Elumelu officially becomes the APC flag bearer for the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives for the 2027 elections.

The primary election was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission alongside representatives of security agencies to ensure compliance with electoral guidelines and maintenance of order during the exercise.

Speaking shortly after his emergence, Elumelu expressed profound appreciation to party leaders, stakeholders, delegates, and members of the APC for entrusting him with the party’s mandate.

“It is with utmost humility and gratitude that I address distinguished leaders, critical stakeholders, and teeming members of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, for nominating me to fly the APC flag for the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections,” he stated.

The former Minority Leader described his emergence as a strong vote of confidence in his leadership and past performance, noting that the outcome of the primary reflected the desire of the people for experienced and impactful representation at the National Assembly.

According to him, his previous tenure in the House of Representatives witnessed the execution of several people-oriented projects spanning education, healthcare, agriculture, rural electrification, housing, road infrastructure, and youth empowerment across the constituency.

“Our people cannot wait to return to that era when the voice of our Constituency reverberated strongly in the House of Representatives,” Elumelu said, adding that his return to the Green Chamber would provide the constituency with stronger visibility, deeper legislative influence, and better access to federal opportunities.

He further assured constituents that he had already outlined strategic plans aimed at attracting more developmental projects, employment opportunities, and empowerment programmes to the constituency if elected in 2027.

Elumelu also used the occasion to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as purposeful leadership under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said had continued to strengthen the APC across the country.

He equally praised Delta State Governor, Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, for the implementation of the MORE Agenda, which he noted had accelerated development in the state and further enhanced the growing acceptance of the APC among the people.

The APC candidate also appreciated former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the National Working Committee and Delta State Working Committee of the party, as well as members of the Ndudi Elumelu Campaign Council led by Dr. Darlington Ijeh, for their support throughout the primary process.

Describing the APC ticket as a “unity ticket,” Elumelu said the people of Aniocha/Oshimili had once again demonstrated political maturity by putting collective interest above divisive tendencies.

He therefore called on party members to remain united and committed to ensuring victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections.

Elumelu specifically appealed to other aspirants, including Hon. Ngozi Lawrence Okolie and aggrieved party members, to embrace sportsmanship and work together in the overall interest of the party and the development of the constituency.
