Governor Godwin Obaseki urged the people of Edo State to vote for a governor who is willing to put the state and its people first in the upcoming 2024 governorship election.
He made this appeal on Monday in Benin during his New Year address to the state, saying that “2024 is a crucial year for our state; we need to be careful and intentional in our decisions at the ballot box in favour of the development we have achieved so far.
“We need to look for a governor who is ready to work for the common good of Edo and Nigeria and individuals who have the competence, expertise, and vision to create and execute sound policies that will advance Edo.”
Obaseki also asked all the inhabitants of the state, especially the political players, to conduct themselves in a harmonious and peaceful manner.
He said that “the presidential elections challenged the pillars of our democracy, while the very tough and uncertain economic situation challenged our strength as a people.”
He added that “in spite of these difficulties, which we have overcome, we are happy that Edo State continues to make progress in our quest for a better society.
