Pastor Edewor Egedegbe has urged Nigerian youths, particularly those in Warri Federal Constituency, to take centre stage in driving peace-building and sustainable development across their communities.
He made the call while delivering a compelling address during the A-Day Peaceful Awareness Creation for Peaceful Co-Existence, organised by the Centre for Peace & Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) in collaboration with the Warri Peace Community Support Initiative, Delta State Civil Society Forum, and the Okere-Urhobo Kingdom Youths Organisation.
Egedegbe’s presentation offered a mix of inspiration and challenge, stressing that young people hold the greatest potential to reshape society and strengthen communal harmony. He outlined several pivotal roles for the youth, including serving as Peace Ambassadors committed to promoting harmony and modelling peaceful conduct in their daily lives.
He further encouraged young people to foster inter-ethnic friendships as a means of consolidating unity in diversity, use social media responsibly to counter divisive misinformation, and actively participate in dialogue and conflict resolution processes that enhance mutual understanding.
The ambassador also emphasized youth advocacy for inclusive development, entrepreneurial cooperation to create economic opportunities, and steady support for traditional and community leadership structures that work to sustain peace. Importantly, he warned against political manipulation, urging youths to reject divisive influences and instead choose the path of peace, accountability, and societal progress.
Amb. Egedegbe’s address resonated as a powerful call to action, challenging youths in Warri and across Delta State to embrace their indispensable role as agents of peace, unity, and transformative development.
