The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Leno Adesanya, promoter of Sunrise Power and Transmission Limited, wanted in connection with an alleged conspiracy and corrupt offer to public officers.

The announcement was made public on Tuesday, with Adesanya being mentioned in three out of seven count charges against a former Minister of Power and Steel.

The $6bn Mambilla hydropower project has been a controversial topic in Nigeria’s energy sector, with several allegations of corruption and mismanagement.

The project, which aims to provide a reliable source of electricity for millions of Nigerians, has been plagued by delays and setbacks since its inception.

The EFCC’s declaration of Adesanya as a wanted person is a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the alleged corruption surrounding the project.

It remains to be seen how this will impact the future of the Mambilla hydropower project and Nigeria’s efforts to improve its energy infrastructure.

As the story continues to unfold, it serves as a reminder of the importance of transparency and accountability in the management of public resources.

The Nigerian government must remain committed to rooting out corruption and ensuring that projects like the Mambilla hydropower project are executed in a manner that benefits the people of Nigeria
