Delta govt plans to make N12bn monthly from own revenue

The Delta State government has set a target of N12 billion monthly from its own revenue sources.

This was revealed by Dr. Latimore Oghenesivbe, the head of the Delta Orientation Bureau and the governor’s aide on orientation and communications, on Saturday.

He said that the state was launching a campaign with many aspects to educate the public on the legal consequences of dodging taxes.

Oghenesivbe said that the bureau would work with the State Internal Revenue Service to run the campaign according to the government’s goal of making N12 billion and more monthly starting next year.

“We are determined and prepared to work with government agencies and groups to push the MORE agenda of Governor Oborevwori through campaigns that focus on government policies and plans and also stress the need for citizens to do their civic duties, such as paying taxes to the government on time.

“We plan to work with the State Internal Revenue Service to run the campaign to stop tax evasion and avoidance and also reach out to our schools and the media to teach our people and youth to stay away from crime, drug abuse, and other bad things.

“The great plans in the MORE agenda are such that they affect all parts, areas, and levels of society, including job and health creation plans that would change our street boys and girls to good boys, girls, and successful business people.

“Tax evasion and avoidance are serious crimes that must be stopped; paying taxes is a key part of a citizen’s civic duty to the state,” he said.
