Delta State First Lady, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, on Tuesday inaugurated the newly completed Tobore Oborevwori Cottage Hospital in Ughelli North Local Government Area, describing the project as a “beacon of hope, healing, and humanity” for the people.
The event, held on December 2, 2025, placed the spotlight on the Delta First Lady, whose presence and remarks underscored the emotional and humanitarian significance of the project. Visibly moved by the honour of having the hospital named after her, she said, “It gladdens my heart to know that my modest contributions are being recognised and valued. It feels good to be home, home sweet home.”
Deaconess Oborevwori applauded the Ughelli North Local Government led by Olorogun Jaro Egbo for “breaking barriers and creating access to affordable, quality healthcare for our people,” noting that the initiative aligns perfectly with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s people-centred reforms.
She emphasised the governor’s achievements in the health sector, including the reduction of dialysis fees from ₦75,000 to ₦40,000, deployment of new dialysis and CT machines, and the ongoing rehabilitation of 150 primary healthcare centres across the state. “God will help the governor to achieve more. He is working, and it is showing,” she said.
The First Lady also highlighted her philanthropic interventions through the You Mata Charity Foundation, recalling a recent medical outreach for children with special needs in Ughelli, where medications, wheelchairs, and assistive devices were distributed.
She narrated a touching moment during the outreach when a mother of triplets received over ₦8.1 million in spontaneous donations, describing it as “a testimony of God’s grace.” She assured that similar interventions would soon reach Delta North and Delta South.
In his remarks, Hon. Jaro Egbo said the new cottage hospital was part of his administration’s strategic agenda to strengthen the healthcare system in Ughelli North, stressing that “healthcare is not a privilege for a few, but a right for all.” He thanked the First Lady for honouring the project with her presence and praised her as “an embodiment of compassion” whose influence inspires many across the local government.
The Chairman of the occasion, Chief Miller Uloho, commended Governor Oborevwori for his “exceptional leadership,” referencing his decisive interventions in resolving land disputes that had stalled the Osubi Airport project. He also appealed to the First Lady to help ensure that the cottage hospital remains functional, adequately funded, and well-maintained.
Executive Secretary of the Ughelli North Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Tega Ighovo, disclosed that the hospital is fully equipped with modern facilities, including an ambulance and diagnostic equipment, positioning it as a referral centre for primary healthcare clinics across the local government area.
