Nigerian singer Davido has filed a suit against Sophia Momodu, the mother of his first child Imade, seeking joint custody of their daughter.

The suit, tagged LD/1587PMC/2024, was filed at the Lagos State High Court on April 17, 2024, with Davido listed as the applicant and Sophia Momodu as the sole respondent.

In the suit, Davido highlighted the provisions he had made for Imade over the years, including the payment of her school fees, transport, and even accommodation.

He stated that he had purchased an apartment in a gated community at Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos, but Sophia rejected the offer to live there and demanded that he continue to pay N5,000,000 annually for a rented facility.

Davido also claimed that he had provided vehicles to meet Imade's transportation needs, including a Range Rover SUV and a Highlander SUV, but Sophia failed to inform him when one of the vehicles stopped working.

He wrote that she had continued to make demands to "frustrate him."

The singer stated that he and Sophia were in a relationship when they had Imade but decided to co-parent after their split.

He emphasized that he had been responsible for meeting all of Imade's educational needs and providing her with the best education possible.

The suit seeks "unfettered and unrestricted access" to Imade, as Davido aims to ensure that he can continue to provide for his daughter and be a part of her life.
