Nigerian music sensation David Adeleke, known as Davido, has initiated legal proceedings to gain sole custody of his daughter, Imade, whom he shares with his former partner, Sophia Momodu.
The lawsuit comes amid allegations from both parties regarding their responsibilities and interactions concerning their child.
Davido, represented by his legal team, claims to have been financially responsible for Imade's education, housing, transportation, living expenses, healthcare, and travel.
He emphasizes his commitment to providing the best education possible for Imade and meeting all her educational needs. Davido also alleges that he has been paying for the rent of the apartment where Sophia resides with Imade.
However, Davido's efforts to contribute more to Imade's life have reportedly been met with frustration due to what he describes as "outrageous demands" from Sophia.
In response to the lawsuit, Sophia released a statement claiming that Davido had not contacted Imade or provided emotional and financial support since their relationship ended in July 2022.
In addition, Sophia claims that Davido threatened her for not making herself "accessible to him sexually" and that he withheld his support because she refused to give him access to her body.
She further asserts that she has never prevented Davido from seeing his daughter and that he has chosen to not visit Imade since July 2022.
The custody battle has brought to light the complexities of their relationship, with Sophia stating that they were together from 2014 to 2017 and again from 2020 to 2022, during which Davido provided financial support.
As the legal proceedings continue, the public awaits further developments in this high-profile custody dispute.
