Davido Praises P-Square, 2Face, D’banj for Paving the Way for Nigerian Artists’ International Success

Nigerian singer Davido opened up about his journey to international success and the sacrifices made by the previous generation of Nigerian artists.

The “Stand Strong” crooner spoke about his first international deal with Sony Music in 2016 and the challenges he faced while working with the label.

Davido revealed that when he signed with Sony, he had to reintroduce himself to the managers and work with the producers and team chosen by the label.

However, the album they produced together was a flop by Davido’s standards, as the producers struggled to understand the African style of music.

The artist returned to Nigeria and worked with his own producers, who better understood the unique elements of African music.

Reflecting on his experience, Davido acknowledged the hard work of P-Square, 2Face, and D’banj, who paved the way for Nigerian artists to achieve international success.

Davido believes that the current generation of artists, including himself, are building upon the foundation laid by their predecessors.

He also expressed hope that the upcoming generation of Nigerian artists will enjoy even greater success and recognition on the global stage.

Davido’s story highlights the importance of understanding and embracing one’s cultural roots in music.

The sacrifices made by P-Square, 2Face, D’banj, and other artists from the previous generation have opened doors for Nigerian artists to reach international audiences, and their efforts continue to inspire and influence the music industry today.
