Nigerian Afrobeats icon Davido and global hip-hop star French Montana have been confirmed as the headline acts for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 opening concert in Rabat, Morocco.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Thursday that the duo will lead a high-profile international lineup for the pre-tournament event scheduled for Saturday. The concert will take place just one day before the month-long football competition officially kicks off, serving as the grand musical introduction to the continent’s premier sporting event.
Joining Davido and French Montana on stage are Moroccan singer Douaa Lahyaoui, French-Moroccan hitmaker Lartiste, and rising talent Says’z. According to CAF, this diverse selection of artists was curated to reflect the global influence and cultural richness of African music, bridging the gap between sports and entertainment.
Organisers stated that the event is designed to set an energetic tone for the tournament, which brings together Africa's best national teams. The statement emphasised that fans in Rabat and across the continent are anticipating a night where "football and music unite on a grand stage."
AFCON 2025 is expected to be a major cultural showcase for host nation Morocco, blending elite athleticism with a festival-like atmosphere. The tournament officially begins on Sunday, following the star-studded Saturday night performance.
