Davido Declares Himself Global Leader of Afrobeats

In an interview with Billboard’s Nadine Graham, Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, boldly declared himself the global leader of the Afrobeats genre.

When Graham referred to him as the leader of Afrobeats in the United States, Davido interjected, asserting that he is leading “everywhere.”

As the global leader of Afrobeats, Davido aims to deliver “Just good music” to his fans, emphasizing that his music has even reached people in jail.

During the interview, Davido shared that he is currently working on two albums, one tailored for the African audience and the other for the American audience.

This approach highlights his dedication to bridging the gap between the two cultures and expanding his reach globally.

Davido also revealed his favorite collaboration to date is ‘2 AM’ with Casanova and Tory Lanez, a record that successfully merged Canadian, Nigerian, and American cultures.

As the Afrobeats genre continues to gain popularity worldwide, Davido’s confidence in his role as a global leader is a testament to his ambition and determination to connect with audiences across continents.
