Marc Cucurella wasted no time embracing his new chapter at Real Madrid. The defender joined the Spanish club from Chelsea for £52 million this summer.
Cucurella spoke to El Mundo about his decision to move. "When Madrid came I didn't think about it, it's a unique opportunity," he explained.
Playing for the club was never in doubt for him. "It's an honour and not many players can say it, so I had no doubts," the left-back noted.
Before signing, Mourinho called to discuss his arrival. According to Cucurella, the new coach was direct about his intentions.
"He told me that he really wanted to work with me," Cucurella told the outlet. "He said I would adapt very well and that Madrid was a great club."
Excitement fills the 26-year-old ahead of the campaign. "I am looking forward to working with him," he added.
Cucurella joins Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konate at the Bernabéu. Denzel Dumfries is also expected to arrive soon.
