CRISIS ROCKS UDU LGA: Council Boss Impeached, Account Frozen

The crisis rocking Udu Local Government Council, Delta state, took a new dimension yesterday as 16 Councilors out of the 20 Councilors in the local government impeached Chairmen, Hon Solomon Kpoma over misappropriation of public funds and gross misconduct, they also froze the local government account.

The motion of impeachment was moved by Hon Henry Igbine, Councilor representing ward 20 Aladja and supported by Hon Duke Efegbere, Councillor representing ward 8 Owhase and signed by 16 Councilors out of the 17 that attended the sitting on Tuesday.

According to the councilors, the Udu local government council Chairman was impeached on the ground that he vehemently refused to furnish the Udu legislative house with income and expenditure of the council since his assumption in office, misappropriation of public fund and misinforming the general public by showcasing non existing projects and applying dictatorial tendency in running the council.

They alos moved another motion through Hon Henry Egbine and seconded by Hon Benjamin Sharta and signed by 16 councilors that all accounts of Udu local government council be frozen until further notice.

In a chat with journalists after the house sitting, Chairman, house committee on finance and appropriation, Hon Benjamin Sharta, said a copy of the impeachment notice and letter of ordering the Udu local government council account frizzed has be sent to the appropriate quarter for immediate implementation.
