Contractors Get N30bn From Delta Govt

The Delta State government has paid N30 billion to contractors who have completed their work in the state.

Mr. Charles Aniagwu, the works commissioner for rural and riverine roads, revealed this to reporters after visiting some projects at Emevor and Evwreni in Isoko North and Ughelli North LGAs of the state.

He praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the payment, saying that it would motivate contractors to finish their projects on time.

He said: “Governor Oborevwori recently paid almost N30 billion to various contractors, and that is why many of them have returned to work.

“We have plans to keep paying them soon so that they can keep working and our people can enjoy the benefits of the projects we have awarded for their easy movement across the LGAs.

“We don’t have any problems, and I believe the contractors are doing well. Wherever they need us to speed up the payment of their certificates, we have promised them that we will do so quickly so that nothing stops their work,” he said.

He also thanked the Emevor youths for working with the contractor and said that the government would keep educating the people to own the projects done in their areas.
