Construction of Nigeria’s Longest Bridge to Begin in Lagos by March or April: Governor Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced that construction of the long-awaited Fourth Mainland Bridge will commence by the end of March or April this year.

The project, which has been in the works for several years, is expected to significantly improve transportation infrastructure in the region.

During a recent town hall meeting, Governor Sanwo-Olu stated that extensive work has been done on the bridge and that the final phase of securing real financing for the project is now complete.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the 37km bridge is scheduled to take place during the first quarter of this year, marking a major milestone in the project’s development.

The Fourth Mainland Bridge, which will be constructed in phases, will connect Abraham Adesanya junction to the Waterfront at Badore, with further connections planned to the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Governor Sanwo-Olu acknowledged that there may be some discomfort during the construction process, but he assured residents that those affected by property demolition will be compensated.

The project is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and is expected to cost $2.5 billion upon completion.

The bridge will be the longest in Nigeria, spanning 37 kilometers with a design speed of 140km. It is anticipated to significantly reduce traffic congestion in the region and improve connectivity for residents and businesses alike.

In conclusion, the construction of the Fourth Mainland Bridge is a major step forward for Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.

The project is expected to bring significant benefits to the region, improving transportation infrastructure and fostering economic growth.
