Leading Muslim clerics want President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to organize a national prayer gathering. They're pushing for religious leaders, traditional rulers, and other key figures to join forces against Nigeria's security crisis.

Defence Minister Mohammed Bello Matawalle recently stressed that military operations alone won't solve the problem. Divine help is needed too, he argued.

Professor AbdulKadir Umar Na'amo heads the Nigerian Muslims Forum. He told reporters that security agencies are making gains, but prayer remains essential for lasting peace.

Na'amo noted the security challenge is complex and multifaceted. Both physical and spiritual approaches must work together, he stressed.

The professor praised President Tinubu's anti-insecurity push. "Notable progress has been recorded in several parts of the North-West and other regions," Na'amo said, crediting improved military operations and better intelligence work.

In his words, current achievements surpass what previous administrations managed in similar timeframes. "The relative peace in many communities is commendable," he noted.

Na'amo is calling for Christian and Muslim leaders to unite in prayer. Community chiefs and traditional rulers from all six geopolitical zones should participate, he urged.

He wants this gathering to seek God's guidance and protection in fighting crime. Such unity would send a powerful message across Nigeria.

Violent criminals have nothing to do with genuine religion, Na'amo stressed. These are enemies of humanity, he said, pointing out they manipulate ethnic and religious tensions for selfish gains.

Citizens must support security personnel more actively. Intelligence sharing and cooperation with authorities are critical, according to the cleric.

Na'amo expressed confidence Nigeria will defeat insecurity. Military action, good governance, community involvement, and faith must work as one, he maintained.

The forum backed Matawalle's call for divine intervention immediately. They described it as timely and encouraged all Nigerians to pray together for peace, regardless of religion.
