Parallex Bank has doubled down on backing young talent by handing N1 million each to 10 athletes from Lagos State who starred at the 2025 National Youth Games in Asaba. The lump sum of N10 million forms part of the bank's push to celebrate achievement and motivate the next crop of sporting stars.
Olufemi Bakre, the bank's managing director and chief executive, presented symbolic cheques to the athletes during a ceremony at the lender's Lagos headquarters. Directors from the Lagos State Sports Commission, coaches and other key figures attended the event.
"At Parallex Bank, we believe that investing in young people is an investment in the future," Bakre told guests. "These exceptional athletes have demonstrated excellence, discipline and resilience, and we are proud to celebrate their achievements."
He added: "Through this recognition, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering young talents and enabling limitless possibilities for the next generation."
Lagos State's team turned in strong showings across multiple events at the games, with the 10 rewarded athletes earning medals for the state. Lekan Fatodu, director general of the Lagos State Sports Commission, praised the bank for its backing.
"Parallex Bank has demonstrated exemplary corporate social responsibility," Fatodu told reporters. "The bank's support has continued to motivate young athletes and contribute meaningfully to sports development in Lagos State."
Fatodu noted that ties between his commission and Parallex Bank run deep. "This is a long-term collaboration that will continue to grow in line with the bank's vision and commitment to excellence," he said.
The move builds on backing the bank has thrown behind Lagos athletes at previous editions of the National Youth Games. It underscores Parallex Bank's push to recognise excellence, back young people and drive lasting social change.
