Nigeria's Flamingos demolished Guinea 5-0 on Saturday in Abidjan. It was the first leg of their 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup qualifier.
The match took place at Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny. Captain Harmony Chidi put on a masterclass, scoring a hat-trick in the dominant performance.
Chidi fired in the opening goal from the kickoff. Her early strike set the tone for what would become a rout.
She doubled the lead in the 13th minute with a powerful long-range effort. By then, the Flamingos had already seized complete control of the game.
Oluwakemi Adegbuyi of FC Robo Queens extended Nigeria's advantage to 3-0 in the 37th minute. Three minutes later, Chidi completed her hat-trick with a clinical finish.
Coach Akeem Busari's side looked unstoppable in the first half. Their relentless attacking play suffocated the Guinean defence throughout.
Mary Dunstan added a fifth goal in the 56th minute. The emphatic victory puts Nigeria in a commanding position before next weekend.
The return leg comes up in Ikenne-Remo next week. With such a commanding first-leg result, qualification for the 2026 tournament looks within reach for the Flamingos.
