Chidi Mokeme Overcomes Parental Disapproval to Pursue Acting Career

Nollywood actor Chidi Mokeme recently revealed in an interview with Chude Jideonwo that his father initially disapproved of his desire to become an actor.

Despite this opposition, Mokeme persevered and has since become a prominent figure in the Nigerian film industry.

Born in 1972 in Lagos, Nigeria, Mokeme developed a passion for acting at a young age. However, his father, who remains unnamed, did not support his career aspirations.

The actor shared that he had to secretly pursue his dreams by sneaking out to attend auditions and shoots. Eventually, he left home to fully focus on his acting career.

Mokeme’s breakthrough came in 2003 when he starred in the movie “Abuja Connection.” He has since gone on to appear in over 200 Nigerian movies, including “76,” “Shanty Town,” and “Ultimate Warrior.”

His dedication to his craft has earned him numerous accolades, including Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2012 for his performance in “76.”

In addition to acting, Mokeme is also a model and a television host. He has hosted various shows, such as “Gulder Ultimate Search” and “The Chidi Show.”

Despite his father’s initial disapproval, Mokeme’s determination and talent have propelled him to great success in the Nigerian film industry.

He serves as an inspiration to aspiring actors who may face similar obstacles in their pursuit of their dreams.
