Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has dodged questions about striker Kelechi Iheanacho's contract prospects. The Nigerian forward joined on a temporary deal last summer from Sevilla.
Iheanacho started slowly but gradually won over supporters at Parkhead. He netted a brilliant strike in last weekend's Scottish Cup final, which Celtic claimed 3-0.
Across all competitions this season, the 29-year-old registered nine goals in 24 outings. His displays improved significantly in the latter stages of the campaign.
Yet uncertainty surrounds whether he'll secure a new contract extension. O'Neill remained evasive when pressed on the matter.
"Iheanacho keeps asking me, 'What do you think — are they going to keep me on?'" O'Neill told the Scotsman. "I have no idea, mate.
Don't ask me. I'm not the manager anymore."
The striker's current terms expire at season's end. Club officials have yet to announce their intentions regarding his future at Celtic.
