BREAKING: 14-year-old drink seller killed by stray bullet at Yoruba nation’s rally

…As agitators defy heavy security, holds rally in Lagos in cultural attire

 

A 14-year-old yoghurt seller, simply identified as Jumoke, has been killed by bullets reportedly fired by a security operative dispersing Yoruba Nation agitators protesters at Ojota, Lagos State.

According to The PUNCH report,  it was observed from the girl’s corpse, that bullets had ripped open the victim’s stomach. She is said to be 14 years old.

She was reportedly displaying drinks at a shop when the bullet hit her.

Her body has been covered with a piece of cloth as a crowd gathered at the spot.

The Yoruba nation agitators Today (Saturday) defiled the heavy presence of armed policemen and soldiers around Gani Fawehinmi Park, Ojota, Lagos, and came out in their numbers in their cultural attire to held a rally to press forward for the creation of Oodua republic.

The protesters, Advocate.ng gathered were chanting different kinds of freedom songs, including, “No going back,” “We want Oodua Nation,” among others.

So far, the rally is going on peacefully without harassment from security agents.

The agitators surfaced around 11.20 am while the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, was addressing journalists

Some of the agitators who spoke to newsmen stated that it is time to have a separate nation for the Yoruba ethnic group because they don’t have anything in common with the other ethnic groups in Nigeria.

Flyers shared by the agitators read, “Ilosiwaju Ominira Yoruba Nation.”

Yoruba nation agitators appeared in cultural regalia synonymous with African traditional religion.

The separatists hold the rally for the secession of the South-West geopolitical zone despite repeated warnings by security operatives.

The agitators led by Professor Banji Akintoye Ilana Oodua group had held similar rallies in other states in the South-West.
