Popular comedian Bovi has taken to his X account to express his disappointment with the performance of the Nigerian football team, the Super Eagles, in the final of the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Nigeria lost 2-1 to the hosts, Cote d’Ivoire, on Sunday, and Bovi has placed the blame on the shoulders of head coach Jose Peseiro.
Bovi criticized Peseiro’s tactics, claiming that the team’s reliance on defense rather than attack was the main reason for their defeat.
He argued that Nigeria is a nation known for its “flare,” emphasizing the importance of fluidity, through passes, dribbles, and attacking play.
Bovi even stated that he would have been unhappy with the outcome even if Nigeria had won, as the style of play was “evidently alien to the players.”
This loss marks a disappointing end to Nigeria’s AFCON campaign, and Bovi’s comments have sparked further debate about the team’s performance and the role of the coach in their defeat.
As fans and analysts continue to discuss the match, it remains to be seen what changes will be made in the Super Eagles camp in preparation for future tournaments.
