Bobrisky’s Arrest: Alibaba Criticizes Gender Bias in EFCC’s Actions

Concerning the arrest of Nigerian crossdresser Bobrisky, the comedian Alibaba has voiced his criticism on the matter.
Bobrisky was apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Lagos on Wednesday night for allegedly mishandling the Nigerian currency at an event.
The arrest has sparked discussions on social media, with Alibaba using his platform to express his views on the situation.
Alibaba, a well-known figure in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, shared a picture on his Instagram page showing men spraying and stepping on currency notes at a party.
He sarcastically questioned whether the EFCC’s failure to take action against the men in the picture was because of their gender.
The comedian implied that the EFCC’s actions were disproportionately targeting women, suggesting that the treatment of women in Nigeria is unjust.
Alibaba expressed his dissatisfaction with the arrest of Bobrisky, stating that it was unfair for the EFCC to target the crossdresser for an offense that is seemingly overlooked when men engage in similar behavior.
He pointed out the disparity in treatment, highlighting a previous incident where a female celebrity was sentenced for a similar offense.
The comedian’s comments have contributed to the ongoing conversation surrounding Bobrisky’s arrest, with many individuals on social media echoing his sentiments regarding the perceived gender bias in the EFCC’s actions.
This situation has also brought attention to broader issues of gender equality and the treatment of women in Nigeria.
As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the EFCC will respond to the criticism and if any changes will be made to address the concerns raised by Alibaba and others.
