Bobrisky Arrested by EFCC for Naira Abuse at Movie Premiere

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, for allegedly spraying and flaunting wads of new Naira notes at the premiere of a movie titled “Ajakaju.”

The event, produced by Nollywood actress and producer Eniola Ajao, took place at Film One Circle Mall in Lekki, Lagos on March 24, 2024.

According to the EFCC, the 31-year-old crossdresser was invited for interrogation following a video report of the incident, which went viral on social media.

The Commission’s Lagos Zonal Command revealed that Bobrisky had committed similar offenses at other event centers and parties on different occasions.

Bobrisky arrived at the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC on the morning of April 4, 2024, to provide his statements and cooperate with the ongoing investigation.

The Commission stated that, upon the conclusion of its investigations, Bobrisky will be charged to court for his actions.

The arrest comes in the wake of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) recent efforts to curb the abuse of the Naira.

The CBN has been working to promote the proper handling of the country’s currency, emphasizing that defacing, spraying, or mutilating the Naira is illegal and punishable by law.

The EFCC’s swift action against Bobrisky sends a strong message to the public regarding the consequences of disregarding the CBN’s directives and disrespecting the country’s currency.

It also highlights the Commission’s commitment to enforcing financial laws and regulations in Nigeria.

As the story unfolds, the public and fans of Bobrisky are closely watching to see how the situation develops and what the outcome of the court proceedings will be.
