Blogger Faces Court Over Alleged Defamation of Guru Maharaj Ji

A blogger has been arrested and charged with defamation for allegedly publishing a false and damaging report against Satguru Maharaj Ji.

The accused, Gbenga Dan-Asabe, was taken into custody on January 14, 2024, following a complaint by the spiritual leader.

According to the police report, Dan-Asabe, the publisher of Asabe Africa Afrika TV on YouTube, allegedly conspired with others to broadcast the defamatory material.

The content in question, published in “Iwe Iroyin Yoruba Tooto,” claimed that Satguru Maharaj Ji is a ritualist who sells human body parts for money rituals.

During the court hearing on January 17, 2024, Dan-Asabe pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. The court granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned until February 22, 2024, for further hearing.
