Bayelsa and Kogi governorship polls: INEC postpones results collation

The electoral body in charge of the Bayelsa and Kogi governorship elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has announced that the state collation of results for both states will resume on Sunday morning.

The Returning Officer for the Bayelsa election and Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, made this known late Saturday at the INEC Collation Centre in Yenagoa, the state capital.

He said the collation was adjourned due to the late arrival of some results from the local government areas. The election was concluded in most parts of the state on Saturday evening.

Similarly, INEC said the collation of results for the Kogi election will start by 10 a.m. on Sunday at the Collation Centre in Lokoja, the state capital. The election was marred by violence and irregularities in some areas.
