The Lagos State Forum of Local Government Chairmen of the Allied People's Movement (APM) is ramping up efforts to mobilise voters at grassroots level and recruit new members ahead of the 2027 elections. Party officials met on Thursday to map out their strategy for the coming electoral cycle.

Olanrewaju Ayinde, who leads the APM's local government chairmen forum in Lagos, signed off on a communiqué setting out the party's plans. The document pledged to strengthen APM structures across all 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas, pushing down to every ward and polling unit.

"We are determined to build a formidable, grassroots-driven movement capable of delivering decisive victory for the APM in 2027," the communiqué stated.

The forum expressed strong backing for Laja Adeoye, the party's chosen candidate for the Lagos governorship race. Members said they believed Adeoye had the ability to provide good governance and could lead the APM to victory in the next state election.

Party leaders also praised the national hierarchy, naming presidential candidate Seyi Makinde, Bauchi State governor Bala Mohammed, and national chairman Yusuf Dantalle. The forum called on all candidates running for the Senate, House of Representatives, and Lagos State House of Assembly to intensify their campaigns and push policy ideas focused on people's needs.

The APM made a direct pitch to Lagos residents looking for a different political choice. It described itself as committed to accountability, good governance, and sustainable development.

In a significant move, the party extended an olive branch to rival opposition groups. It invited the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) to work with the APM in advance of 2027.

According to the communiqué, such a partnership would be vital to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The APM charged the APC with failing to deliver effective governance in Lagos.

"Together, we can rescue Lagos from the continued misgovernance of the ruling APC," the party said in the communiqué.

The forum assured Lagosians that the 2027 elections would bring a chance for change in how the state is run. It stressed that the party remained united and laser-focused on winning the state election.
