APC Chairman Predicts Overwhelming Victory in Edo Governorship Election

Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has expressed confidence that the party will secure an overwhelming victory in the upcoming Sept. 21 Edo governorship election.

This statement comes after the successful completion of the party’s primaries in the state.

During the presentation of the certificate of return to the party’s candidate, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, on Saturday in Abuja, Ganduje emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation among all aspirants and party members to ensure a triumph in the state.

Direct primaries were conducted in 192 wards in Edo, with records and video evidence supporting the results.

Okpebholo emerged as the winner with the highest number of votes, leading to his nomination as the party’s candidate for the governorship election.

In addition to praising the transparent and fair nature of the primaries, other aspirants who contested the party’s ticket with Okpebholo have been encouraged to join forces with him in the pursuit of victory.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC was commended for their hard work, sincerity, and fairness in handling the Edo primary election.

Sen. Lucky Imasuen, one of the aspirants who vied for the ticket, lauded the committee’s efforts and assured that all aspirants would work together to ensure the party’s success in the upcoming election.

The initial declaration of Dennis Idahosa as the winner of the Edo Governorship Primary Election on Feb. 17 by the Gov. Hope Uzodinma-led Governorship Primary Election Committee was later overturned by the APC National Working Committee (NWC).

The NWC declared the election as inconclusive and rescheduled a supplementary election for Feb. 21, replacing Gov. Uzodinma with Gov. Bassey Otu of Cross River as the chairman of the committee.

During the supplementary election, Okpebholo secured 12,433 votes, defeating 11 other aspirants to emerge as the party’s candidate for the Edo governorship election.

Currently representing Edo Central at the National Assembly, Okpebholo is now poised to lead the APC to victory in the upcoming election.
