Anambra LP Lawmakers Call for Urgent Action on Food and Security

Anambra State House of Assembly members from the Labour Party (LP) have urged President Bola Tinubu and state governors to declare a state of emergency on food and security in Nigeria.

In a recent meeting, the eight lawmakers called for the suspension of all other activities, including infrastructure development, to address the pressing issues of hunger and insecurity.

The lawmakers, following the advice of their leader, Mr. Peter Obi, have decided to donate their six months basic salaries to help alleviate the suffering of their constituents.

They emphasized the need for the federal and state governments to prioritize the welfare of the Nigerian people, as the current situation is dire.

The LP members also commended Mr. Obi for his commitment to the nation’s stability and growth.

They called on the masses to remain hopeful, as this is crucial for a better future.

In their interaction with reporters, the lawmakers highlighted that the Labour Party’s ideology is centered on the welfare of the people, and they must care for the people they represent.

They stressed that the masses are not interested in political rhetoric and instead require immediate action to address the widespread hunger and insecurity in the country.

The lawmakers acknowledged the challenges faced by farmers who cannot safely access their farms due to insecurity.

They urged the government to act swiftly in addressing these issues and to prioritize the needs of the Nigerian people.

As the situation in Nigeria remains critical, the LP lawmakers have taken a bold step by donating their salaries to help their constituents.

The question remains: Will President Tinubu and state governors heed their call and declare a state of emergency on food and security to ensure the welfare of the Nigerian people?
