Tobi Amusan finished second at the Xiamen Diamond League women's 100m hurdles on Saturday. She clocked 12.28 seconds in the race.
America's Masai Russell won with a time of 12.14 seconds. Bahamas' Devyne Charlton took third in 12.37 seconds.
Amusan, 29, set a new personal best for the season. She'd previously run 12.41 seconds at the opening Diamond League meet.
Russell got off faster from the blocks. Both she and Charlton had strong starts that left Amusan chasing early.
The Nigerian world record holder recovered quickly. She passed Charlton but couldn't catch up to Russell down the stretch.
Russell maintained her lead at every hurdle. She stayed ahead through the final sprint to the line.
Amusan showed improvement from her earlier Diamond League outing. She'd finished third at that first meet of the season.
Her next assignment comes in Rabat, Morocco. The Diamond League series heads there on May 31.
