American singer Selena Gomez takes a break from online platforms

The Instagram queen, who has the most followers among female celebrities on the platform, announced that she would deactivate her account.

The ‘Single Soon’ singer said she was disturbed by the “horror, hate, violence, and terror” that she saw in the world.

She expressed her desire to “protect all people, especially children” and “stop the violence for good”. She apologised for not being able to do more than post words or hashtags.

She wrote on her Instagram story, “The world is breaking my heart with all the horror, hate, violence, and terror that’s happening. It’s horrific to see people being tortured and killed, or any kind of hate towards anyone. We need to protect all people, especially children, and stop the violence for good. I’m sorry that my words or a hashtag are not enough for everyone. I can’t stand seeing innocent people get hurt. That’s what makes me sick. I wish I could change the world. But a post won’t do that.”

She also added, “I’m taking a break and deleting my Instagram. I’m done. I don’t support any of this.”
