Senator Ned Nwoko has announced the commencement of admissions for the 2025/2026 academic session at the Sports University of Nigeria, Idumuje-Ugboko, describing the pioneering institution as “a national vision made manifest.”

Sharing the update via his official Facebook page, the Senator and Chancellor of the university said the Sports University represents years of strategic planning, policy advocacy, and a firm commitment to empowering Nigerian youth through the synergy of academics and athletics.

“This university is more than an academic institution,” Nwoko declared. “It is the culmination of unwavering efforts to empower Nigeria’s youth through the fusion of education and athletic development.”

As the first specialized sports university in Nigeria, the institution offers a wide range of programmes, including disciplines in football, taekwondo, swimming, and golf, alongside courses in Mass Communication, Management, Social and Allied Health Sciences, General Sciences, and Architecture.

Admissions will be available through Diploma, Certificate, and Direct Entry programmes, ensuring access for diverse categories of learners and professionals.

A standout feature is the compulsory physical training under Category A for all students—designed to build discipline, resilience, and excellence.

“As Chancellor, I have insisted on a holistic approach to education, one that prioritizes moral values, national service, and global relevance,” Nwoko added. “Our facilities are world-class, our curriculum is forward-thinking, and we are committed to producing graduates who will thrive not only locally but internationally.”

Calling prospective students, parents, athletes, and professionals, he urged them to take advantage of this historic opportunity.

“The Sports University of Nigeria is ready. We await your brilliance, your talent, and your dreams,” he said.

With the motto “A Citadel for Champions,” the university aims to nurture a new generation of leaders both on the field and in the classroom.
