Actor Seun Jimoh Criticizes EFCC for Targeting Celebrities in Naira Abuse Crackdown

Nollywood actor, Seun Jimoh, has spoken out against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) recent actions in targeting celebrities for Naira abuse.

In an Instagram post, Jimoh criticized the agency for “scapegoating” high-profile individuals, including socialite Cubana Chief Priest and crossdresser Bobrisky, who have been charged for abusing the Nigerian currency.

Jimoh argued that it is unfair to single out celebrities for a crime that many Nigerians are guilty of, citing the widespread practice of spraying money at events.

He questioned the selective enforcement of the law and the lack of arrests for similar offenses committed by others.

The actor expressed concern over the mental health implications of the EFCC’s approach, suggesting that the agency’s actions may be more focused on sending a message to the general public rather than addressing the issue of Naira abuse.

He emphasized that celebrities are citizens too and should not be singled out for punishment while others go unpunished for the same offense.

The ongoing crackdown on Naira abuse by the EFCC has sparked a broader conversation about the role of celebrities in society and the need for fair and consistent enforcement of laws.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the EFCC will respond to the concerns raised by Jimoh and others, and whether the agency will adjust its approach to address the issue of Naira abuse more effectively.
