Pope Francis, leader of the Catholic Church
A source from the church informed Advocate Newspaper that parishioners who came for early morning Mass saw a carton arranged by the statue of the Virgin Mary in the grotto. This the source said, made church members to be curious as it was unusual to keep such things at the grotto, but a closer look reveals that a baby boy properly wrapped was inside the carton.
The attention of the parish priest, Reverend Father Godwin Orudje was said to be drawn immediately to the scene and upon seeing the helpless child, the priest was said to have immediately contacted the police authority for entry of the matter.
Another source from the church said it is possible the person who abandoned the child carefully monitored when the night guard attached to the church must have closed from duty before snicking inside the church compound, else the night guard would have either seen the person or heard the cry of the child.
As at the time of filing this report, the matter was said to have reported at the A’ Division, Ughelli Police station. A police source at the station also confirmed the issue, but whose possession the child is could not be ascertained.
