In a statement signed yesterday by Comrade Sunday Subi, President and Dennis Kpomah, Secretary, stated that the 14 days Ultimatum was as a result of the disregard and neglect by PSML for the youths and host communities.

They explained in the statement that PSML no longer recognized them as host communities and has resorted to partnering with non-indigenes whom they alleged to be surreptitiously preventing their people from being engaged in the mainstream of the company.

According to the statement non-indigenes are now been fixed in strategic positions, making it look like they were the only qualified professionals who had worked in the plant.

The statement reads, “due to total disregard for Local Content policy, PSML should immediately meet with the leadership of Udu Traditional Council and Union of Udu Communities to discuss an operational MoU; key positions such as CSO, Chief Engineer, HR, Company Secretary be reserved for the Urhobo; every labour contract whether skilled or unskilled should be given to Urhobos and all contractors must be paid”.

The youths called on President Muhamadu Buhari, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the Bureau of Public Enterprise, AMCON, Minister of Mines and Steel Development, the Director of Projects and other relevant authorities in Nigeria to call PSML to order in order to avoid the breakdown of law in Udu.
