FC Robo crash out of NWFL Super Six

FC Robo of Lagos on Wednesday crashed out of the ongoing NWFL Super Six in Asaba following a 0-1 loss to reigning champions Bayelsa Queens FC of Yenagoa.
FC Robo, who had lost their first group match to Rivers Angels, had come into the game hoping to pick the maximum three points to keep their title hopes alive.
Both teams endured a tense situation in the opening moments of the encounter, with FC Robo missing three glaring scoring chances.
However, the second half saw Bayelsa Queens taking control of the midfield, dictating the pace of the game and confining the FC Robo players to their own half.
Bayelsa Queens’ Flourish Sebastian then took advantage of a defensive error by FC Robo defenders to fire home for the only goal of the game in the 67th minute.
Attempts by FC Robo players to get a goal were thwarted by the Bayelsa Queens’ goalkeeper Oyono Omini who put up a fine performance to deny them scoring chances.
After the game, the coach of Bayelsa Queens, Domo Okara, however bemoaned his team’s inability to score more goals during the game, expressing sadness over the final scoreline.
“Before the game, our target was to score at least three goals to give us an advantage over Rivers Angels, but they (his players) failed to take the chances that were created.
“As it stands now, we are in a tight corner going into our last group game against Rivers Angels to determine who tops the group,” Okara said.
Also, the coach of FC Robo, Emmanuel Orobosa, decried his team’s poor run at the Super Six, saying he felt sad over his team’s ouster.
“Frankly speaking, I am not happy that we lost again. We had come here to contest for the trophy, but it happened this way and that is football for you.
“The girls did the play, but failed to convert the chances that came their way. The poor finishing in front of goal cost us a lot,” Orobosa said.
