The Director General, Voice For Good Governance, VGG, Pastor Dr. Solomon Osarumwense Oshodin has called on the Members-elect of the 10th National Assembly to sponsor and support bills that will better the lives of the masses whose interest they represent.

Dr. Oshodin made this known recently while speaking with journalists in his office in Benin City, Edo State.

He pointed out that NASS is supposed to check and balance the activities of the presidency through legislation noting that Nigeria is indebted to other nations in billions of dollars.

“Nigeria has borrowed about 4 billion dollars from China, we don’t know what the borrowings are for. We have issues of kidnapping, Fulani herdsmen, IPOB, bunkering, and others. Where is the Government putting all the money? We need lawmakers that will challenge such policies. NASS is supposed to scrutinize and checkmate policies rolled out by the federal government to see if they are in the interest of the people. Though the 10th assembly is yet to be sworn in, members-elect are already jostling for key positions in both the Senate and House of Representatives clamouring for it to be zoned.

“We expect the 10th NASS to be different and they ought to be looking at bills that were rejected, the ones that were not signed, and those that were supposed to be put forward for consideration. Partisan politics should be put aside and make laws that will benefit the people. A law that will bring transformation to Nigeria. Those who got voted into the house for the first time and those who were returned have a role to play”.

Pastor Dr. Oshodin stressed the need for NASS to be the voice of the average citizens in the country noting that they should brace up for the challenges ahead.
