Dr. Yusuf Bello Danbatta has left the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress.

He was the PDP's deputy governorship candidate in the 2023 election.

Danbatta announced the move in a statement to journalists on Thursday. He cited consultations with political leaders and stakeholders as the reason for his switch.

According to him, the APC provides a better platform for advancing public interests. He also said he wants to support governance improvements across Kano State and Nigeria.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf's leadership style influenced his decision, Danbatta noted. He praised the administration's Kano First Agenda as a transformative blueprint.

The former candidate highlighted the governor's focus on good governance. Infrastructure renewal and human capital development are central to the agenda, he said.

Danbatta reaffirmed his commitment to public service and national unity. He stressed that his dedication transcends party politics and affiliations.

In his words, supporters should join him backing Kano's continued progress. He called for collective effort toward the state's stability and development.

His defection marks a significant realignment in Kano's political landscape. APC gains strengthen as prominent opposition figures continue crossing over.
